Charlie Comrie, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Charlie Comrie has been working in healthcare for more than 18 years. She is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Education and Certifications

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to her nursing career, Charlie served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army for five years, including one deployment to Iraq.

Before transitioning into psychiatry, Charlie spent nine years caring for patients in trauma, cardiac, and other intensive care settings. For the past four years, she has specialized in outpatient psychiatry, treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and other mood and anxiety disorders, including treatment-resistant conditions with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

Specialties and Personal Life

Charlie treats patients ages 13 and older for a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, eating disorders, alcohol use disorders, and weight management. She provides virtual psychiatric care to patients throughout Texas.

Charlie has a special interest in trauma-informed psychiatric care and enjoys working with individuals experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the long-term effects of trauma. She is passionate about caring for veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others working in high-stress professions, recognizing the unique challenges they often face.

Charlie’s military experience sparked her passion for mental health and ultimately led her to pursue a career in psychiatric care. Having witnessed firsthand the impact untreated mental illness can have on individuals and their families, she believes that honest, open conversations are the foundation of good psychiatric care. She strives to build genuine relationships with her patients by creating a judgment-free environment where they feel heard and understood. Together, they develop realistic, individualized treatment plans that support lasting progress.

Outside of work, Charlie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and is a proud sports mom. When she’s not in the office, you’ll likely find her playing disc golf, adding to her tattoo collection, reading psychological thrillers, attending heavy metal concerts, or planning her next family adventure.
